Block Party, Brooksy, & Club Deals?!

What a weekend to start a newsletter!

The Why?

Hobbies turned to passion are the purest form of enjoyment, I have never understood people who fish, yet chasing a little white ball around a large field for 4 hours is catnip to me. Most of my spare time throughout the day is revolved around golf, researching equipment, following the tour, or watching videos on anything and everything golf. Instead of accepting cookies on 8 different major golf websites and sitting through 6 minutes of annoying ads, why not have entertaining and concise information sent to your inbox weekly? A swift read, that summarizes the information we actually want. No Gimmies Newsletter intends to create entertaining and informational golf based content for people who 3 putt.

Block Party Redefined

John Scott’s 2016 All Star game appearance, and David Ayres emergency backup goalie victory are the only two sports storylines I could think of even comparable to what we experienced this weekend. A quick summary, 30 club pros get to play in the PGA championship every year, 99% wont make it to the weekend, this year we experienced the 1%. Michael Block, the 46 year old club pro, is the feel good sports story of the century. After a T-15 finish and a cool cheque for just over a quarter mill, Block has become the primary headline this weekend. Did I mention he also got a hole in one? It sounds make believe, it’s not.

Brooksy Baby

5 majors, within 6 years, at 33 years old, Brooks has winning engrained in him. As seen on the Netflix doc “Full Swing” its all he cares about, so it’s nice to see a storyline come full circle. After the Augusta debacle he really has solidified himself this weekend as a candidate for #1 player in the world, regardless of OWGR. Despite the whole LIV vs PGA saga its nice to see all of the true top talent in the world compete at these events, makes for such good TV. Also, can we shoutout the Nike 3 Iron in Brooks bag? The nostalgia that club brings and the fact he’s still using it is even more impressive.

Why you should consider a half off Wilson driver?!

Anytime a brand has multiple Sports streams in their product line, it’s hard to take them seriously. I would never buy a bike made by a tennis company, cough cough, Diadora. Wilson on the other hand does this elegantly and under the radar with incredible value. They are currently offering their D9 driver for $199! I have read and watched countless reviews of this club, and everyone loves it! Forgiving, good aesthetics, modern technology, and at almost a ¼ of the price of some modern drivers. If you are looking to replace your big stick, or its time for an upgrade, the Wilson D9 should be in your purchasing decision.

My Wild Pick for the Charles Schwab

Im taking Eric Cole at +8000, he’s got some momentum from a T-15 finish this last weekend, plus this course caters towards his strokes gained. I love the Kiz, despite his recent performance at +60000 he is hard not to take.
